SWSH / UX CONCEPT

A little more human.
A different way to apply.

A job-search concept that pairs short video profiles with swipe-based discovery, giving applicants another way to introduce themselves.

Introduce yourself. Explore a role. Make a connection.

01 / THE CHALLENGE

Two sides of hiring.
One impersonal process.

THE APPLICANT

“How do I stand out?”

Repeated applications. Different formats. Little room to show the person behind the résumé.

Need: expression + a clearer path forward
THE RECRUITER

“Where do I start?”

A high volume of applications and limited context before committing time to a conversation.

Need: relevant information + easier review

Synthesized from the deck’s applicant and recruiter personas; these prompts are not participant quotations.

02 / THE DESIGN QUESTION

Could an application show
more of the person?

The concept brings together a video profile, job discovery, and application tracking. Each part addresses a different moment in the hiring journey.

01

Expression

A short video adds another way to communicate experience and personality.

02

Focus

A card-based flow presents one role at a time, with key details grouped together.

03

Feedback

Application status and match screens make the next state visible.

LOOKING AT THE CONCEPT THROUGH COGNITION

Familiar doesn’t always mean clear.

Swiping offers a familiar interaction. For a consequential decision like applying for a job, I would still test whether people understand the gesture, its outcome, and how to undo it.

03 / FROM STRUCTURE TO SCREENS

Map the journey.
Then make it tangible.

MVP FOCUS

Job postings & applications + Video upload & viewing + Search & filters

Video editing, analytics, and an AI assistant were explored as later priorities.

04 / THE APPLICANT EXPERIENCE

From “this is me”
to “this could be it.”

A / INTRODUCE YOURSELF

More than a list of qualifications.

Select job interests, upload a video, and shape a profile that introduces the person behind the application.

The question to test: does video help people express themselves, or add another hurdle?

B / EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES

One role.
A focused moment.

Job cards bring role details into a consistent layout. The swipe interaction moves the applicant through opportunities.

The question to test: are the information and controls sufficient for an informed choice?

C / KEEP YOUR PLACE

Make progress visible.

My Jobs brings applications together, while the profile holds the applicant’s background and video portfolio.

The question to test: can people find an application’s status without retracing their steps?

05 / THE RECRUITER VIEW

The other side
of the connection.

The deck also explores a desktop recruiter dashboard, extending the concept beyond the applicant’s mobile experience.

06 / REFLECTION & NEXT STEPS

A concept to question.
Not a result to assume.

The project establishes personas, a feature scope, flows, sketches, and interface designs. Its effect on hiring speed, applicant confidence, and decision quality still needs validation.

01

Test comprehension

Can applicants explain what a swipe does and find the status of an application?

02

Test the video premise

Does video add useful context? Explore text alternatives, captions, and the risk of appearance-based judgments.

03

Test both sides

Observe applicants and recruiters completing realistic tasks before claiming the experience is faster or easier.
